Why not "an equal type of consciousness" ?  Maybe, we should talk not about the subjectively determined "types of consciousness", but about the objective mechanisms of consciousness.  My position is that the mechanisms of consciousness in all living beings are necessarily the same.  I hope that, sooner or later, the atavisms of anthropocentrisms will not bias our way of thinking.
